2024: Highlights from a marvellous year

beautiful and romantic whimsical wedding photography in devon and cornwall

A year of wedding photography & Videography across Cornwall, Devon and beyond

It’s the last day of 2024 and I can’t quite believe that we’re here already once again. It feels like about two weeks ago I was making a 2023 round up post. Well… we sure have squeezed a lot into a year. 2024 was the year we made sure that we took days off and adventured, we travelled a lot (mostly for work) but we did see a lot of sights along the way. Some of the year’s highlights include:

  • Our first USA destination wedding

  • An isle of Wight wedding

  • An Elopement in the Scottish Highlands

  • Returning to Guernsey for an island wedding

  • Our first totally analogue wedding

  • Launching our Super 8 films

It’s been a full and abundant year. We’ve met a lot of dogs at weddings and eaten a lot of canapes. 2024 was the year that the film trend at weddings really took off and as big advocates for analogue photography (and videography) since the beginning, it’s been exciting to have so many opportunities to be shooting so much film. Next year, we’ll be offering a roll of film inclusive with all full-day photography packages but most people are opting to have even more coverage as they love the nostalgic look. We better start earning more to keep up with the constant maintenance of the vintage equipment so maybe our fabled β€˜quiet year’ that we always talk about will just have to wait.

Capturing joy in all its forms & sticking to our core values: Inclusive, body positive & fun wedding photography

We’ve been doing this for around 10 years now and we’ve really had a lot of time to think about what it really is we care about when it comes to our approach. We’ve always danced the dance of β€˜not getting in the way or being too overbearing’ whilst getting β€˜the shots’ and this year we’ve really honed our craft of being intentional and discreet so that our couples can truly have the best of both worlds: awesome pictures without spending hours posing or standing around. We care deeply about inclusivity and body positivity in how we capture love and always do our best to be sensitive & thoughtful, making sure everyone is having fun having their photo taken, no matter how camera shy or awkward they normally feel.

anyway…

Enough rambling on my part. Here’s a selection of our 2024 highlights that capture the spirit of what has been a really cute year. A wedding in Lake Michigan (where Lyra even got to assist us) Super 8 goodness, and capturing the sweetest rainy elopement by a loch in the Scottish highlands have just been a few of the wonderful memories we’ve made along the way. Here’s to 2025 and hoping it can fill some pretty big boots. The bar has been set.
