A throwback to October 2022 when we shared a beautiful, airy autumn day up on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall with the beautiful Katie & Oli for their airy & romantic wedding day at Trevenna barns.
When we met Katie & Oli, we knew they were going to be so lovely to work with. Their day was so relaxed and fresh, dreamy autumn sun beating down whilst plumes of smoke billowed from little chimneys over the valley.
They opted for a traditional church ceremony in quaint St Neot nearby where even their beloved dog was in attendance.
A sunny celebration for a cosy autumn wedding in Cornwall
The good thing about Trevenna barns, is that if the unpredictable Cornish weather turns, youβve got a cosy indoor space with a handsome woodburner to keep you warm and the venue has lots of nooks and crannies for the guests to mill about and stay onsite. As it happened, the weather for their day was divine. A crisp October sun which meant that weβd be in luck for a wee trip offsite to nearby Colliford Lake for their sunset couples photos.
On the wedding day, I usually do two couples sessions. A little safety session after the ceremony/before sitting down for the wedding breakfast followed by a later session around sunset which is usually when people are feeling a bit more relaxed. We did Oli & Katieβs first session in the little garden in front of the stone cottages as it was filled with beautiful, colourful Dahlias which made for a lovely setting, celebrating the cottage garden vibe of Trevenna.
I loved how Katie styled her bridesmaids in crushed velvet - jumpsuits for her maids and a pink dress for her maid of honour. Velvet is so cosy for an autumn wedding.
Wedding portraits at Sunset on Colliford Lake
We got so lucky with a beautiful sunset. To make the most of the autumnal tones of Bodmin Moor, we headed to Colliford Lake which was looking a little dry after a long hot summer but the brown tones in the heathland and the long grass was such a dreamy setting for a sunset wander taking in all of the colours & dreamy light.
If getting lucky with the sunset wasnβt enough, we were treated to a sublime rising full moon over the hills of Trevenna Barns as we were driving back. It was such a magical experience.
To add to the cosiness, the couple had booked a Ceilidh for their reception entertainment. Thereβs something so warming about Folk Music in the autumn.
What a beautiful day from start to finish. The perfect inspiration for a romantic, Cornish wedding up on Bodmin Moor. It was so much fun to capture with Jon at my side, second shooting. Thank you so much for choosing us to capture your dreamy celebrations
