Romantic Summer Outdoor Marquee Wedding in a wildflower meadow on the Helford River, Cornwall
Colourful, romantic & floral riviera wedding with a real wildflower meadow & sea views
I was so nervous about this wedding - when Olivia got in touch, I was hugely honoured that sheβd even ask me to be her photographer but I knew Iβd need to blow it out of the water for her big day and the thing is, weddings have so many uncontrollable variables and thereβs no amount of skill as a photographer that can truly make up for. The big one being the weather, especially in Cornwall when youβre planning an outdoor wedding.
Olivia is an extremely talented fashion photographer whom Iβve admired for years and I didnβt want to let her down by creating photographs anything less than absolutely freaking fabulous. Lucky for me, the weather absolutely had my back. It was a glorious summerβs September day with enough haze that the direct sunlight wasnβt dreadfully unflattering nor were the green tones too saturated and harsh. When you plan an outdoor marquee wedding in Cornwall, you hope for this sort of weather but after the wash out weather weβve had all summer, I donβt think any of us truly expected what we got.

The Helford River is such a special place to Olivia and Tom and their love of sailing was reflected through their choice of location; a beautiful flower meadow overlooking the flotilla of colourful Cornish boats bobbing on the river. It really set the scene for their frothy, floral wildflower wedding.
Olivia & her bridesmaids got ready at a charming cottage perched on the edge of the Helford Passage, a stones throw from the field where the wedding celebrations were taking place. Apparently the field owner had grown a wildflower meadow at the venue especially to create a magical scene for the weddings taking place there.
A wildflower wedding venue by the river in Cornwall
I canβt think of a more beautiful outdoor wedding field venue for a sailcloth marquee. Overlooking the Helford river with a wildflower meadow of its very own, Helford View wedding field really did blow me away. Olivia & Tom truly found the most magical location via their tent company, Absolute Canvas. Iβve popped the link there so you can have a peep if youβre looking for a wildflower field with one heck of a view for your outdoor marquee wedding in Cornwall.
Pippa of ZennorWild, a Penzance based florist did such an incredible job with the wildflower florals. Her frothy arch looked like it was plucked straight from a fairytale and the meadow boxes lining the aisle created a beautiful viewpoint looking down the aisle, adding pops of colour to the scene. Everything was locally grown and in season, something Pippa really strives for in the ethos of her business. I adored the addition of strawflowers to the bouquet, it was so unique and summery looking.
The couple shared a personal ceremony having had a statutory wedding a few weeks before at a London registry office and had a champagne reception out in the sunshine which was truly one of the hottest days of the year.
The moment at which their Cocker Spaniel Milo destroyed the veil. Donβt worry, the bride didnβt lose her scalp but sadly the beautifully embroidered veil didnβt survive to tell the tale.
We dashed away in the evening to nearby Grebe, one of the bride and groomβs favourite little spots. We found a quiet area on the far rocks to watch the boats and the setting sun and for them to share a few moments away from the party. This beach is popular among Falmouth Uni students and locals alike as in the late summer, by night, it hosts the most incredible displays of bioluminescence in the area. Iβve got some fond memories of night swims here, watching the water light up as if by magic as I moved through it.
And back to the party where Freshly Squeezed were serving up funk jams to get the crowd going. It was such a beautiful wedding and I couldnβt imagine it having gone more perfectly for them. It was relaxed, fun and full of laughter - a day of wafting about a wildflower field watching boats to-ing and fro-ing with great food and champagne. A Cornish wedding by the river always has a relaxed vibe that I love. Thank you so much Olivia & Tom for doing me the great honour of choosing me to be your wedding photographer. Shooting another photographerβs wedding is always the highest compliment.
