I can’t think of a more perfect wedding venue for a truly romantic winter wedding. When Charlotte & Ian got in touch enquiring about booking us for their wedding at Brympton D’Evercy, my heart was racing as I checked our availability and I was extremely excited all year about capturing their day at this big old house. If you’ve followed along with us, you’ll have learned by now that we’re both huge fans of whimsy and I was reared on fairytales. I love historic places and always look for ways in which the world is magical and can feel whimsical in the every day so having an opportunity to capture an artists wedding in this beautiful gothic old house was pretty much a dream come true.
Right from their pre-wedding adventure shoot, one dreamy sunset summer’s evening on Chapel Porth, I knew these guys were going to be amazing to work with. Charlotte is an Artist and produces beautiful large scale paintings working from her studio on the Isle of Guernsey where her Husband Ian grew up and works in media. We love that a great number of our clients consist of people in creative professions as it gives us a bit extra liberty to get creative with shots and have a play. It also means that the result at the end is often a collaboration of two artistic styles and it’s so fulfilling!
For this wedding I teamed up with awesome Hannah again who often works with me on out of county bookings. I always love it when we get together and I love her style and creativity she brings in like the adorable rings shot above.
In the morning, Charlotte’s bridesmaids surprised her with a bespoke gift box of personal treasures that they had put together for her, full of sentimental value. From a beautiful handrawn picture of the place where Charlotte & Ian got engaged to some cheesy junior school photos of Ian as a kid supplied by his family, this was not only the perfect momento but an amazing way to kick off the celebrations in the morning.
Stems of Somerset provided the elegant Dutch-Master’s esque winter floral arrangements which looked incredible with the soft winter light and the backdrop of the historic venue.
While I was with the girls, Hannah was capturing Ian and the boys who were enjoying a morning whiskey before greeting their guests as they began to arrive at the venue.
After canapes on the terrace and a little session of couple photographs around the nooks and crannies of the beautiful grounds, Charlotte & Ian head up to one of the many enchanting great rooms in the house for their feast. The table decor was elegant and refined, with natural edible decorations of fruit reminiscent of raphaelites paintings and romantic arrangements of spilling flowers and candles. I always believe that with table decor, you can skip all of the extras and make a statement with just a few key, natural elements and this is a perfect example. Candles always provide the most perfect, natural light and ambience.
The evening celebrations kicked off with a fire pit, live band and a heck of a lot of wild dancing. Hannah & I had the absolute best time at Charlotte & Ian’s whimsical winter wedding and we definitely hope to revisit this awesome venue one day. Thank you so much guys for entrusting us in such a task and making us feel so welcome on your incredible day <3
