Although we are based in Cornwall, Devon & Isles of scilly, we happily take on a limited number of weddings per year that go beyond our home area. We’ve captured weddings in Scotland, Ireland, Guernsey & France and we’ll be journeying to the states in 2024. If you’ve fallen in love with our work but your wedding involves us voyaging beyond our borders, please don’t hesitate to see if we’re available. Please note that travel fees are not included in our package pricing.

Absolutely! Generally, Sarah will cover photos and Jon will cover your wedding on video and if you’re having a larger wedding and we feel that we need some extra support, we can enlist the help of one of our fabulous associates like Rachael or Hannah to make sure that none of those precious candid moments are missed while we’re busy focusing on the V.I.P’s.

Sarah started shooting weddings part time whilst she was studying Photography & Creative Writing at Uni in 2012 and has captured over 150 weddings (She still can’t quite believe it.) Jon joined forces with her in 2017 bringing the analogue photography & videos side of things to the business and now they run Lyra & Moth full time together capturing weddings on digital, film and video whilst raising their mischievous, Pokemon loving daughter, Lyra.

We think it’s really important to be upfront about our work and what plays to our strengths as creatives, and what doesn’t. Our work really shines at intimate weddings where we have space and time to capture more creative portraits of the couple and their guests within the setting and really play and experiment with the photography & videography. We love nature & history and our work is well suited to historic or nature based venues, places with interesting light & windows, outdoor spaces or quirky weddings with couples with vision that want photography that’s playful, considered and creative. Our weaknesses are extremely large weddings (we’re talking over 160 guests) where we’re running around trying to get pictures and don’t have as much time to be creative, weddings in hotels with no natural lighting or super traditional weddings where couples want to spend a lot of time doing line-ups and family photos and want a really formal look to their photography.

We edit our wedding galleries in Lightroom to tweak the highlights, tones, colours, reduce noise, mask & generally get the images looking consistent and pretty in our signature style. We then pass images through photoshop to get rid of unwanted signs, litter, cuts & scrapes where possible. Our limit to retouching is that we will remove spots and blemishes that you wouldn’t ordinarily have on the day (We get it, the pre-wedding stress is real) and where possible, we remove powerlines and unsightly background additions that harsh the vibe. We don’t offer intense air brushing or weight loss as it’s not consistent with our ethos of celebrating body confidence.

If complicated and time intensive photo-retouching is required and is within our skillset, extra editing time can be purchased retrospectively or images can be provided for a more skill specific graphic designer to carry out work.
